Ionic! Don’t you think?

Igår sjöng jag för mina elever på en kemilektion – en låt som jag själv skrivit… texten till 😉
Jag tänkte att jag skulle dela med mig av den texten ifall det är någon som är intresserad.

Ni har kanske hört låten Ironic, med Alanis Morissette?
Leta upp en kareoke-version av den låten (t ex den här) och sjung istället nedanstående text.
Beklagar om det ibland är svårt att matcha texten till melodin. Det blev en kompromiss mellan musikalisk kvalitet, pedagogiskt innehåll och att texten skulle påminna om originalet. 😀

Ionic

An old man turned ninety-eight
He bought a battery that died the next day
It’s negative pole gave it’s charge away
It’s the zink-carbon battery’s inevitable fate
Isn’t it ionic … don’t you think 

It’s like acid rain on your copper plate
It’s a smoke-detector that wants you to wake
It’s the salty taste that you just can’t take
Who would’ve thought … it figures

Mr. Magnesium tape was afraid to fry
He was held in the fire and kissed two electrons good-bye
His electro negativity did not suffice
So an oxygen atom thought
‘Well isn’t this nice…’
And isn’t it ionic … don’t you think

Well atoms have a funny way of giving up charges
When you think everything’s okay and everything’s going right
And nature has a funny way of making all your
chemistry experiments go wrong so everything blows up
In your face

It’s strawberry jam in a metal can
It’s the horrible smell on your bathroom break
It’s like ten tons of lithium in a small calm lake
It’s adding sodium hydroxide
to an aluminum plate
And isn’t it ionic… don’t you think
A little too ionic… and yeah I really do think…
